newbie HELP!!! apologies

Hi all,
I’m just starting with Modx (after reading through the fabulous tut on nettuts) and am slowly getting to grips with the cms (so far so good) the problem I’m having is after following the instructions on http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/MaxiGallery everything seems to be fine in that i can upload pics etc however I cant seem to get any effects working.

eg: I’m using the sample "call" [!MaxiGallery? &display=`embedded` &embedtype=`slimbox` &pics_per_row=`3` &max_thumb_size=`110` &max_pic_size=`0` &thumb_use_dropshadow=`1`!] and the result is thumbnails of my images but when I click them I dont get the slimbox effect

apologies if this has been cleared up before I tried a search but with no luck (also I’m coming from a designer css background so I’m not too well up on php)

Ok this is very strange, I’ve read through a few more posts and it appears that the gallery is working fine but it cant seem to "access" the effects libraries hence the gallery displaying in standard html mode.

these are the steps I’ve taken so far (from wiki)

Create a container in MODx with page title My Galleries
Check Published on the Page Settings tab
Put the snippet call [!MaxiGallery? &display=`childgalleries`!] in the document content area and save the document
Create a new document in the folder with page title Gallery 1
Check Published on the Page Settings tab
Put the snippet call [!MaxiGallery? &display=`embedded` &embedtype=`slimbox` &pics_per_row=`3` &max_thumb_size=`110` &max_pic_size=`0` &thumb_use_dropshadow=`1`!] (or another call) in the document content area and save the document.

...I’ve also tried [!MaxiGallery? &display=`embedded` &embedtype=`smoothgallery`!]

still no success (I’ve also logged out of the backend as suggested by the wiki article but still no luck).

my install path is assets/snippets/maxigallery

I’m stumped

phew, ok this might shed some more light on the problem, after going through the steps the manage pictures button appears on the "My Galleries" page (container) but NOT on "Gallery 1" page (which contains the snippet call for the effects libraries etc.) so it seems the Gallery 1 page is being ignored somehow (the page is published and has show in menu ticked) in fact as a test I removed the snippet from the Gallery 1 document altogether and the gallery still functions but of course in basic html mode

very strange..

anyone any thoughts??

right, seems to be working fine now even though I didnt change anything!!!??????? (must be a lag somewhere)
I tried this locally through MAMP with zero success and online on a live site and it eventually started working after much cache clearing and refreshing.


very frustrating

looks like a great gallery widget though I’m definitely going to get some use out of it
