ordering oddities

From what I can tell form the MG documentaion, default ordering is by pos(ition) and then date. But what determines the initial position? I upload a bunch of files by ftp and rysynch, and the order is random. I would have thought that the initial position ordering would be by filename or something useful like that.

Second, reordering the positions is a pain using the drag and drop interface, especially for galleries with more photos than can fit on a single screen. Could there be some other methods? One would be a (draggable) file list, perhaps with tiny thumbnails. One would be an "order by" dropdown to allow ordering on filename, date, etc. This would allow a faster method to get close to the desired ordering, and then allow manual ordering by drag and drop or some other method.

By default, maxigallery won’t put everything on the position field on upload. So it’s using the date field for the sorting in your case. I would guess that it would upload the files by filename when doing resynch, so the order should be by filename.. but if the files have a date field in the EXIF data, maxigallery will read that and use that as the date for the picture. So that can give different order.

Good points. Unfortunately I’m not developing any new features to this snippet, so you’ll have to implement those by your self or hope that someone else does that. I will include new features that others will do for MaxiGallery if they are usefull.
