So I read creating a front end user gallery Wiki..

And it’s not quite what I’m after...

Would it be possible to modify it in such a way so that registered users can upload photos themselves and select which gallery (different pages) to place the picture in?

Also, the wiki mentions MaxiGallerySolo which I cannot find a download link for, does anyone know where I can get? This is also may be a stupid question but I just upload the maxigallery files I downloaded from the repository into the correct directorys (and CHMOD gallerys to 777) then copy the code into a snippet to install MaxiGallery correctly yes?

You could put the web users to some usergroup and use that usergroup in maxigallery to give rights to all users of that group to edit certain galleries.. But users cannot upload picture first and then select a gallery for it.. They need to first select a gallery and then upload a picture in it. It’s also not possible to upload one picture to multiple galleries at the same time.

MaxiGallerySolo is "deprecated"... MaxiGallery can do everything that MaxiGallerySolo did.

So changing any MaxiGallerySolo calls to just MaxiGallery will work? Or would I have to look in an equivalent?

This may also be another stupid question but is there any admin area as such or must it would be built manually? Thanks again

Users need to navigate to the gallery document and when logged in, they see "manage pictures" button in the document what will take to the gallery management. Of course you can do your own management area that is only seen for logged in users / usergroup what list all gallery documents (with ditto for example) and then user can select one and it goes straight to the picture management of that gallery etc.. The galleries are just normal MODx documents and with certain maxigallery parameters, you can create a document that manages a gallery from some specific document straight away (&manage_gallery=`doc_id`).

You have to look for equivalent functions.. they are the query parameters of maxigallery. You can see examples from the maxigallery wiki page.

Yes, there is a admin area for front end.. and there’s a plugin for "ManagerManager" to create backend admin area.

Thanks, again I think I’m doing something dreadfully stupid - everytime I try and paste even [!MaxiGallery? &display=`childgalleries`!] its just showing up as normal text. Tried pasting it in html aswell but the same thing, where am I going wrong? :S

When you paste the text in to RTE, it can break the snippet call by escaping some characters or converting them into htmlentities or breaking the call into multiple lines.

Try looking at the document source with editor set to none or via the RTE’s code view.
