thumb_use_dropshadow, get black border instead of shadow?

I have made a site and used MaxiGallery with the "thumb_use_dropshadow" option. It all worked perfect, but since a move to another webhoster it stopped working!

The problem is that new pictures now don’t get a nice dropshadow, but a nasty and ugly black border around it where the shadow is supposed to be. What setting has to be on on the server to get it working again? Do I need a specific GD / ImageMagick module to get it working again?

Got the same problem I guess, upgraded to 0.9.6.2 but no cure for now...

Yes that is the problem I have!

I believe that you need GD2.x.xx at least for the dropshadows. But I’m not sure if that’s the problem that you are having..

Have you checked that the shadow images are ok in /assets/snippets/maxigallery/dropshadow ?

I posted in another thread, but have exactly the same problem and still no solution.

Hi, I have a problem creating dropshadow sometimes. Im currently using version 0.4.1 of Maxigallery since its been working really well for me til now.
A couple of weeks ago I tried to create a new album with this call [[MaxiGallery? &display=`embedded` &embedtype=`lightboxv2` &pics_in_a_row=`3` &max_thumb_size=`110` &max_pic_size=`0` &thumb_use_dropshadow=`1`]] and my thumbnails didnt get any dropshadow, but they got a black border around it instead. Tried again and agian and it didnt work.

But a week ago I tried again and everything worked perfectly. But today I have the same problems again when I just get dark borders instead. I even ttied to upload to a already existing album to see if my call was wrong, but the new thumbnails got the same problem there.

My modxcms version is 0.9.6.1p2
server on one.com PHP Version 5.2.6
gd 2.0.34
safe mode on

Anyone got any idea of why this aint working?

The dropshadows png are ok.

Ran some tests on the code and localized the problem in class.dropshadow.php:

^{@ImageFill($this->_imgShadow, 0, 0, @ImageColorAllocate($this->_imgShadow, $background[0], $background[1], $background[2]));}

It seems like the gd imagefill always put out black instead of white that it supposed to do to see the dropshadow. I looked it up with my webhotel at one.com and they verified the problem. They’re on GD 2.0.34.

Guess I’ll just have to wait and see if they want to solve it...

Didn’t want to wait, so made a little workaround to solve the immediate problem.

In class.dropshadow.php, exchange the line:

^{@ImageFill($this->_imgShadow, 0, 0, @ImageColorAllocate($this->_imgShadow, $background[0], $background[1], $background[2]));}

with:

^{@imagefilledrectangle($this->_imgShadow, 0, 0, $nx, $ny, @ImageColorAllocate($this->_imgShadow, $background[0], $background[1],$background[2]));}

Good to know.. I haven’t done that class, so I don’t have much info to give.. glad to see you were able to sort it out.

Yes, changing that line makes it work.

I have read a lot of posts on the net with people having problems with the imagefill function, so I guess if people have problems with this, it sure is a good workaround.
