    Hello,

I think i’ve found a BUG grin ... well while i was creating a new Manager User and when I set the "Manager Interface Access" to NO ( at the user setting tab ) ... after clicking save it keep alerting me with endless 2 alert boxes telling the following:

"Email Address Doesn’t seem to be valid"
    ..............[ OK ] >
    "Logging Error: action not set"
    ..............[ OK ] >
"Email Address Doesn’t seem to be valid"
    ..............[ OK ] >
    "Logging Error: action not set"
    ..............[ OK ] >
"Email Address Doesn’t seem to be valid"
    ..............[ OK ] >
    "Logging Error: action not set"
    ..............[ OK ] >

    .... endless

I’ve take sure that adjusting this option to YES solves the problem .... and by the way the email address is valid and approved while this option is set to YES ...

    Kinldy check that bug ...

    Thanx

It has nothing to do with document groups and users but only the option to deny manager acces for taht user,

If you know how to add a field in the database the you can add a field in the usersettings for that and put a 1 as valeu and that user wil not be able to get into the manager. somthing goes wrong with saving the first 4 or 5 items in that Tab. looks like it interfears with the main manager settings.

So there is a way to set up a user and enable them to edit a (a specific page only) documents content ?

Case example. We have a site with 500 advertisers, each advertiser has a page, each page has a gallery of images - we’d like each advertiser to be able to edit the content of their gallery (we’re using mini-gallery). We’d like the advertisers to log in, and be taken to their page where they can edit, save, then log out - and go no where near the manager, just the individual page.

Can modx do this? We don’t think so, and yes we can manage fields in the db - but I don’t understand what you are talking about concerning my earlier post.

yes you can do that by using the doc groups
              read it here http://modxcms.com/manager-roles-groups.html
but cause the setting to disalow users to enter the manager does not work you can set it in the database yourself

After reading through all the posts about this topic, I find no resolution to the problem. Can someone give specific details of how to edit the database--I have access, but lack experience. I need to create a user that can login in and edit page content without ever seeing the manager console.

                Thanks,
                James

Add this field: "allow_manager_access"  and the field:"manager_login_startup" to the "modx_user_settings" table and set user id to the user you want to have this setting and 1 for id and alow manager now this option can be changed for that user in the userspecific settings.
but Quick edit does not work fine somhow. It runs the module and generates the quickedit menu but when I want to change anything I get the login/logout screen instead of the edit screen in the popup.

By setting the startpage in the same settings and set alow manager to 1 the user wil not go directly to the manager but will be forwarded to that page, but still he will be able to enter the manager.

I think that the module needs to go into the manager to grab the fields? so this option needs some more work no need for this funcktion if Quick edit is not usable.

                  hope this helps
