[Project] Trying to use fancyupload im Maxigallery

I am trying to get FancyUpload to work with/in maxigallery.

that way multiple files can be uploaded and treated at ones without oveloading or timout by using ajax to process each image sepertly when the image is uploaded.

I think that this would be very nice addition to MG.

this treat is made so that we could all jump in and help out.

first thing is what version to use the motools1.11 version or the 1.2 version?
quick edit is using 1.11 I think so that would be the better choice I think.

then we need to know how this thing works? I could not figgre it out all yet (just starting to investigate)

and then I think we need to isolate a part of the mg code that can be used to manage the images but not reload the page until all images are done. (ajax I think would be good)

so if any of you used FancyUpload and know how to implement it then maybe give us some pointers.

I’m finding more people are moving to mootools 2 for a lot of the effect scripts that are out. What ever version I’m sure it would be a great edition to MG!

Will this mean that you will get rid of the 10 input fields to upload photo’s and replace it by just 1 multiple upload field?

Yes that is what I want to achieve

my php is not good enough for this I think
at least not o my own.

Nobody that could jump in and kickstart this?
Or am I the only one that would like this in MG?

what do you think, would it be a better solution or would you prefer fancyupload for some reasons?

I just took a look and it is not that easy to make the change since MG has a lot of things to consider in its upload processing that would need to be taken into consideration (thumbnails, watermarks, creating directories, etc.). Not to mention the option to upload via FTP.

And I have no idea how to tie that together with the JSON output needed by FancyUpload since there is no action to tell MG to go to the next step. A "go to next step" button will be needed to move on once you are done uploading.

How far did you get?

I’m working on test-environment with swfupload. first I want to try to make a ’stand-alone solution’ not included into maxigallery, but includes the maxigallery.class.inc.php for database-entry, thumbnail-creation and all this. It dosn’t look so bad, I think it is doable. When I have my test-configuration run where should I upload the files, that other and better coders can have a look on it? Here as attachement? In development-forum? or anywhere else?
