MaxiGallery smoothgallery options - Image Mask and Info Pane title/description

I can’t seem to get these two parameters to work.

First, the image mask doesn’t show up. I thought there might be a problem with the mask I created, so I thought I’d try the demo mask. The mask files are in the folder specified in path. The images have been sized to 675x380 px same as the gallery. I uploaded the images after I specified all the parameters show below. Cleared the cache. The gallery is working just fine, just no mask.

Update: Immediately after I posted this (of course. . . ) I opened another browser to the site and the demo mask was there!! So I then tried the mask file that I created, and got a white space instead of the image (although the info pane continues to slide up and down. I tried to switch it back but it still shows a white space. I’m wondering now if I’m just doing these things out of sequence? Is there an specific order for changes to the parameters, uploading the images, clear cache, open close browser, log off/on. I think I’m missing something.

Secondly, the info pane also appears, but the title descriptions are not appearing. When I enter the titles/description from the front end with manage pictures and click save, the title descriptions disappear from the input form and do not appear on the info pane when it slides up and down on the image.

Also one other thing. When I upload these images using manage pictures, the images are transferred, but then I get the following error. If press the back button the page reappears and the gallery has been updated and work just fine (items above excepted)



This all looks so simple, until I actually try it!!

When ever you change parameters that affect the images (eg. size change, shadows, masks etc.) you need to re-upload the images, because these things are done on upload.

So the correct order is:
1. Change snippet parameters
2. Delete old images
3. Upload new images
4. (optional step) It might be needed to clear the browser cache in the case of SmoothGallery as it preloads the gallery images to cache via javascript.
5. View the gallery

Seems that something is wrong in your installation. It might be that something in your server environment is causing the image titles / descriptions not to save. Might be some mod_security setting or something related to used MySQL / PHP versions. Do you have access to the apache error logs? That would be a good place to search for a error message. Also look at the System Events in MODx manager to see if there are some error messages generated. Have you tried a simpler snippet call? For example just [!MaxiGallery!]? and try also with the newer version (see below).

Just wanted to let you know I have resolved all my problems here. Turns out it was a combination of things.

First, I was not updating, reloading images, etc in the proper sequence. That in itself help me identify one problem. Thanks.

Second, while testing and trying to sort this out prior to my posting, I had placed a call in the template as well as in a chunk. Sloppy work on my part. Once I realized that and took out the second call, things started behaving as I would expect. I am no longer getting the parse errors when loading images.

Third, I took your advice and used a simpler call. Starting with the minimum, adding one parameter at a time and testing each addition, I discovered I didn’t need all of them. That left just the masking problem.

With the previous items resolved, the demo masks worked as expected and I realized the mask I had created was incorrect. Instead of using white as the area for the image to show through, I had created a transparent ping with no color. This resulted in an entirely white image in the gallery rather than the masked image.

Good that you got it all solved, have a happy time with MODx!

I use imagemask and watermark.
But imagemask is not transparent but black (althow I’ve made png file with transparent element).

No, Image masking feature doesn’t create transparent images, it uses the &..._mask_bgcolor settings for the background color.
