Animated GIFs

Hey peoples,

Is there a way to be able to upload animated GIFs and actually have them animate in MaxiGallery? I’ve upped a couple to my gallery and they do not animate so I can only assume that MG doesn’t support the animated GIF format... How easy would it be to modify MG to accommodate for animations?

Since MaxiGallery processes and modifies your images, that would only take one frame of the animation. I suppose you could manually replace the processed images with your animated ones, but that might cause problems with the metadata that was stored in the database. Worth a try; I can’t think of any other way it could work.

Yeah I was thinking that. I have a problem with transparent PNGs losing their transparency after upload but I guess these things can’t be solved easily.

It’s the same thing as with the PNG issue, either replace the images manually after upload, or make sure that maxigallery saves just the original file untouched (eg. max_pic_size=`0` and no picture modifications) and use phx:phpThumb modifier in the maxigallery templates to do image modifying. phpThumb can handle animated gifs too, but I think it depends on the server environment.
