Help on image sizes and drop shadow

Hello!

I just installed MaxiGallery and getting my feet wet with it and MODx. I followed the wiki instructions and was able to set up a gallery. A couple issues I can’t seem to find the answer to though. First, here’s the snippet code I use (pretty much cut&paste):


1. The images I uploaded via the management option were 800x500. The gallery, when browsing, only shows them at 400x250. If I look at the gallery folder on my server, I see:
- ’filename.jpg’ at 450x250
- ’big_filename.jpg’ at the correct 800x500 sizes.
Do I have something set up incorrectly as to why it’s shrinking the picture down?

2. As you can see above, I have dropshadow option set but drop shadows do not show up on my gallery index page. Are there any other options/settings that should be configured to get this?

You have to re-upload images every time you do modifications to the parameters that affect the images, eg. size changes or filter settings. Those modifications are done to the pictures on upload.

Another thing to note is that the pics_in_a_row parameter is pics_per_row nowdays.. You can see the up to date parameter list in MaxiGallery wiki page.

If you are changing the picture dimensions / filters often and don’t want to always re-upload them, you can make MaxiGallery to only save the original picture and then use phx:phpThumb modifier in MaxiGallery templates to get it in the size you want. phx:phpThumb doesn’t have all the same filters that MaxiGallery image processing has. For example the dropshadow is different.

I tried re-adding the images and that worked. I guess I changed settings between and didn’t realize it -- thanks!

This leads me to a question though:
- If you change the background color of the gallery page, do you have to re-upload images to get shadows working or is there a way to re-gen the thumbnails without re-doing the gallery?

Dropshadow background color is a separate setting, so yes, you need to change it to suit your page bgcolor and reupload images, sorry.
