Is there an easy way to do this?

A client has asked for a feature on their website that I hope can be done with MaxiGallery - their spec is shown below

There need to be 4 category’s - Sculptures, Garden Sculptures, Paintings and Didgeridoos.

From the the 4 category’s each will need a series of thumbnails depicting the individual products, which when clicked on go to a full page with picture and text of about 100 words about the piece.

Once clicked from thumbnail to full page, I would like to be able to go forward or backward to the next piece of artwork without having to return to the thumbnails, but also making it simple to get back to thumbnails if I wish.


What is the simplest way to implement this type of solution bearing in mind the fact that quite a large description is required for each image.

Sounds like just a normal default MaxiGallery installation to me..?

Not quite the default though due to the need to have a large description area

Can the description area be modified to appear to the left of the images and not in the default position? That would give me more space to display both the image and the description on the page without the need to scroll down the page

Do a custom template. pictureTpl specifically. See MaxiGallery wiki for more information.

I guess this could be done with just Ditto as well.

Parent doc = container with a Ditto call that lists pages (custom tpl showing thumbnails).
Product pages would contain 2 TVs: one for thumbnail, one for big image. Perhaps other TVs as needed (price, SKU, weight...). Item description in the regular content-field.

I have decided to implement the solution provided by ganeshXL - I have tested out that snippet for prev-next links and it works great.
