[Solved] Not accessing database?

Hi, I’m getting confused here, so hope someone can point me in the right direction. I’ve installed MaxiGallery into both the localhost version {under wamp} and on the remote server under *nix. Using the deliberately basic [[MaxiGallery]] calling a snippet created by copying and pasting the text file, I get a blank page {which I’ve set to non rich text}. With admin rights I get the ’configure’ button, and when selected get the upload page. However, when I endeavour to upload either to local or remote {galleries set to 777} I get a success message, and then nothing. If I review the database it appears untouched.

Suggestions thoughts?

Thanks for suggestion, in fact have done so. Was replying to update situation when my connexion died for a few hous <sigh> The joys of Thailand’s internet. Anyway here’s my present position.

1. set page to non cachable
2. Added an image record through PHPMyAdmin {on localhost} and then manually added two images tn_Image01 and Image01 {no extension} into galleries/14. Program creates directory first time when ’uploading’ OK.
3. System sees the new image and ’zooms’
4. Can update existing record with text.
5. Still cannot upload though, even though I get a success message.

Just to add, no errors logged in PHP, Apache or MySQL logs when an attempt is made to upload an image.

Hmm.. weird.. You could try the &use_ftp_commands parameter.. see it and other &ftp... parameters in MaxiGallery wiki. Although it’s a bit of a long shot, because you are not getting any errors..

Have you tried to upload other pictures? eg. smaller or different type.. have you tried the resynch command? does it work?

Have tried jpg {& jpeg}, and png {different sizes was well} with same results. Re-synch doesn’t do anything visible but runs, again with no errors either displayed or logged. I’ll take a look at the &ftp data, thanks, later today.

One point to clarify, though it may not be relevant, is that both these installations are completely new, they are not upgrades. Unfortunately I don’t have an older installation to upgrade just in case something has become lost in the shuffle. {straws... grasping ... rearrange into a meaningful sentence}

Thanks for offer. Here’s what I’m doing presently. The on-line site is a PoC so I’ve just deleted the initial install and am uploading a new copy sourced from a new download of the whole MODx system. Once that is complete I’ll attach to the existing DB {yes backed up } and install the additional components required. If the problem disappears then it looks like a glitch n the source, if not well there’s no ’odd code’ and your offer may well bear fruit.

PS Agree it’s the lack of error messages which puzzles me.

A Result.

• I physically deleted the original MODx install, made a backup of the data set and reinstalled from new downloaded source.
• Decided to create a new installation, and then added the few {so far} required additional snippets.
• Since there are only a few pages {14} and a couple of templates I recreated rather than recovered from database dump.
• Gallery document was set to non cached and container, with no RTE.
• Commissioned MaxiGallery with the present release.
• It seemed, I really don’t know why, to take time to appear {preview showed it correctly, browser didn’t} but finally the manage button was there.
• Logged in using the ManagerLogin snippet as Admin, and now was able to upload, edit, and amend images {and associated texts} using the simple call [[MaxiGallery]]

In one way it’s frustrating not to know ’why’ but at least the system works on the web. I’ll probably repeat on the localhost version {which still doesn’t work} as well.
