How to make a gallery of links

I wanted a gallery of thumbnails where each one links to a page on my site, not to the bigger image.

So I added this in [tt]gallerypicturetpl.html[/tt]:

[+maxigallery.embedtype:is=`links`:then=` 

	<a href="[~[+maxigallery.picture.descr+]~]">

`+]

Then added this to the call:
[tt]&display=`embedded` &embedtype=`links`[/tt]

Then put in the document ID for the page I wanted to link to in the ’description’ of the picture.
For example, if I wanted an image to link to my home page, I would just use ’1’ as the description for that image (without the quotes.)

It works!

Maybe someone else will need this type of gallery.

I’ve just discovered
modx about a week ago
and from your comments. Gallery
of galleries or links to galleries etc
is the main thing I was looking for in a cms.

This is a great extra piece of code. I want to have a hyperlink in my description. How would I go about that?

Simply add the html to the picture description field.

If you also want to display the html in other maxigallery views, you need to do custom templates with the default contents and remove the :htmlent PHx modifier from all maxigallery.picture.descr placeholders, because that PHx modifier converts all html chars to html entities.

How can I do if I want to use external link (to another site) ?

I would think:
instead of <a href="[~[+maxigallery.picture.descr+]~]">
do this: <a href="[+maxigallery.picture.descr+]"> and type in the url
if you use weblinks they have ids.

Its strange.

When I use

[!MaxiGallery? &id=`radioslideshow` &display=`embedded` &embedtype=`links` &smoothgallery_width=`748` &smoothgallery_height=`228` &max_pic_size=`748` &pic_use_watermark=`1` &pic_watermark_valign=`bottom` &pic_watermark_img=`assets/galleries/radio.png` &pic_watermark_type=`image` &pic_use_imagemask=`1` &pic_mask_img=`assets/snippets/maxigallery/imagemask/mask2.png` &pic_mask_bgcolor=`141414` &embedtype=`smoothgallery` &smoothgallery_timed=`true` &smoothgallery_embedLinks=`true` &smoothgallery_showArrows=`false` &smoothgallery_showCarousel=`false` &smoothgallery_showInfopane=`false` &smoothgallery_delay=`5000`!]

then whe I click to the picture, it takes me not to my link (http://www.mysite.com/index.php?id=73), but to http://www.mysite.com/index.php?id=84&pic=228&from_id=7

How can I use my own link with this call (slideshow)? Thank you!

First, there isn’t &id parameter in MaxiGallery. You can see the available parameters in maxigallery wiki page.

Then.. Are you sure that that is the call you are running on the page? Redirecting from picture links should only happen if &picture_target parameter is used.

Do you have sample page online that I could check?

What do you mean? I use this gallery from another call (from template of another page):
