parse error function.rename not found....

hi everyone!

I am trying to get Maxigallery 0.5.2 to work, but when I try to upload pictures the following error occurs

I read the Wiki documentation and followed every step. I am still not sure that I got it right though.. This is what I did:

I installed everything as I was supposed to,
then I created a new document (container) which I called Galleries as proposed in the Wiki and the id was (19)
then I created a child document named Gallery1 which got the id (20)
I created a folder named 20 which had three fotos in it 1a.jpg, 2b.jpg, 3c.jpg (all size 480x640pixels) (this pictures are supposed to be in the first-and only- gallery ’’Gallery1’’)
I ftped the folder (via FileZilla) in the directory assets/galleries/
and so I I got assets/galleries/20
I previewed the Gallery1 document through the MODx manager and everything looked ok until I pressed the "Resync Gallery" button.

Any ideas?

Your PHP install is probably not running as the same user as your FTP. Give the folder where it writes images 777 permissions.

did you chmod the images to 0666?

I did everything you said an now I get the following message when I press the Resync botton

Fatal error: Call to undefined function ImageCreateFromJPEG() in /home/pg249/public_html/modx-0.9.6.1/assets/snippets/maxigallery/watermark/Thumbnail.class.php on line 183

It seems that I don’t have the GD libraries (I couldn’t find them in the phpinfo() view in the system info tab.
I saw a similar post in http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,17997.0.html where he was told to download the libraries by
http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/gd.htm

I went to the previous page but I don’t understand how I should install it.
Here is the thing. I am using a web host dalab.ee.duth.gr (which is my university) and not some local host like xampp. So I have to ftp everything I install in the manager.
Where am I supposed to install the libraries?

(and from the http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/gd.htm page what files do I need to download in order to make the Maxigallery work?)

If you’re using a web host, they’ll have to deal with it. You have to re-compile php with the GD libraries, which is not something you can do.

Thank you, for your reply, you saved me hours of meaningless searches in the forum!

It’s to bad though, that I can’t install this snippet, cause I really liked the layout it produces.. :’(

Is there an other snippet I could use in the download resources which you would recommend?

You need a snippet that do not process the images. Eg. you will need to upload already made thumbnails and pictures with right sizes. You could try either MooShowGallery or HighSlide Ext.

Or if you like the SmoothGallery display type, you can use it on it’s own and same goes for Slimbox. In that case you need to do a snippet that will produce the needed image listing (html code) for the script.

But image uploading (or specifically thumbnail creation) is unfortunately out of scope if you do not have GD libraries or your server does not have access to ImageMagick software.
