Subgalleries?

Hello!
I have some problems with subgalleries. If I would like for example:

Root gallery
-Gallery 1
-Gallery 2
--Gallery 2.1
--Gallery 2.2

How is the proper way to do this, snippet call in each page? Gallery 1 works fine, but nor gallery 2 with it’s subgalleries.
Should the directories on the server be on the same level or should it be in subdirectories? For example Gallery 2.1 and 2.2 subdirectories to Gallery 2 or should them be all in the sam directory.

Create the documents normally in what ever tree form you like and then add MaxiGallery call to each document. You can for example use another template for the gallery documents that already has a MaxiGallery call.

If you want to show the sub galleries in Gallery 2 document, you add [!MaxiGallery? &display=`childgalleries`!] to that document. The child gallery does not come visible until at least one picture is uploaded to the child gallery. There are also mutiple other ways to show child galleries, like listing the documents with ditto/wayfinder and using maxigallery in ditto/wayfinder template, etc.. There are also some examples in the maxigallery wiki page at modx wiki.

Ok, thanks a lot. But if I upload pictures via ftp and create the directories by myself (I had som problems when uploading pictures via the webinterface), how should the directorystructure look like?

ftp folders must just be the page id’s for the created pages, the structure is made by the document tree

Another question, how do I link and display a random picture from one of the subgalleries to my gallery 2 (if there aren’t any pictures there, just in the subgalleries) from the gallery root page or must I have a picture in my gallery 2?

use this call to do so:


this wil display the last 2 uploade images from all galleries.

that way you can not use that call for uploading and managing picture for that page but you could use 2 calls on one page.
