You just need to write your own &galleryPictureTpl. Maybe something like this:

Yes, create your own galleryPictureTpl what does not have a link from the picture. You can see the default template from /assets/snippets/maxigallery/templates/gallerypicturetpl.html. Just create a chunk based on that and remove the link tag. Then define that chunk in your snippet call &galleryPictureTpl=`yourTemplateChunk`
