Problems with display=`childgalleries`

MaxiGallery 0.5.2, MODx 0.9.6.1, php 5.something, Apache 2.something, on Linux FC6.

I have a document structure something like this:

Each gallery document contains:

Each gallery also contains some images.

My goal is to have each gallery page display thumbs for each immediate child gallery of the current gallery as well as thumbs for each image in the current gallery (i.e., like a filesystem browser with folders and files). Everything works except for 2 problems:

1) In the leaf gallery (Gallery 2), a thumb (and link) for Gallery 2 is shown, leading to recursion. I’d like to keep the MaxiGallery call the same for all nodes since it’s likely that subgalleries could be added later.

2) Since the display parameter is "childgalleries", it isn’t "embedded", so clicking on each image results in a page with just the image and not a fancy slide show like I want. It’s like I need to specify "childgalleries+embedded" for a display value, which of course wouldn’t work, but you get the idea.

Am I doing something wrong, are these bugs, or just omissions in the possible use cases? Thanks for any help.

1. Hmm, I guess there’s a bug in that then.. I’ll check it sometimes and fix if necessary..

2. Yes, &embedtype is only used when &display=`embedded`.. If you want that childgalleries will open in slimbox/lightboxv2 you need to do this: One thumbnail in page, but all pics in Slimbox/Lightbox v2 picture set.

Do a ditto or wayfinder call to the gallery documents what lists the immediate child documents. Then in ditto’s template, use those maxigallery calls that are in the wiki example, but add &view_gallery=`[+id+]` to the calls..

You need to also create a document what you will use to manage the galleries. Put the same parameters to that call (except &view_gallery) and add &is_target=`1`. Then add &manage_target=`<document_id>` parameter to all MaxiGallery calls.

I think I understand what you’re saying, but if I understand correctly, what you propose will open a slimbox/lightboxv2 picture set when I click on the thumb of the gallery, which isn’t what I want. When I click on a gallery thumb, I want to go to a page that shows thumbs for all that galleries pics and thumbs for all the sub-galleries of that gallery. When I click on the thumb for a pic, I want a slimbox/lightboxv2 thing to happen with all the pics in the gallery.

Does that make sense?

Hmm.. ok, in that case you will use 2 maxigallery calls in the page.. [!MaxiGallery? &display=`childgalleries`!] to display the childgalleries from the document and [!Maxigallery? &display=`embedded` &embedtype=`slimbox`!] to display the pictures from the current gallery.

Then when user clicks on a child gallery thumbnail, it will open that gallery document what will show again childgalleries from that document and pictures from the gallery that will open in slimbox.. yes?

I thought I had tried 2 calls on the same page, but the layout looked weird. But I was using the defaults, so maybe I can fiddle with that. Thanks!
