Please help! I want to display the first image of each gallery as the normal (366px) and the rest as the thumbs. Can I do 2 MG calls on the same page?
What I want to end up with is a normal image at the top and the rest of the gallery thumbs below in a two column display and to show the normal size using slimbox, or lightbox.
In addition to this, can I call MG from a template? Do I have to do it via chunk or can I call it directly from a template? This would be nice but not necessary, I would just rather my client didn’t need to deal with the call in the content pane.

Yes, you can have multiple MG calls on a page and yes the calls can be in the template.
Do one call that gets the first picture in normal size (use &limit=`1` and a custom template to show the normal pic, eg remove the "tn_" before the [+maxigallery.picture.filename+]) and another that is normally &display=`embedded` &embedtype=`slimbox` &pics_per_row=`2`
