Stuck with child galleries

According to http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/MaxiGallery I installed it, assets/galleries is chmoded to 777, but somehow I’m stuck with the feature childgalleries:

[shadow=red,left][!MaxiGallery? &childgalleries_ids=`all` &display=`childgalleries`!][/shadow]

is in a parent folder

[shadow=red,left][[MaxiGallery? &display=`embedded` &embedtype=`slimbox` &pics_per_row=`3` &max_thumb_size=`110` &max_pic_size=`0` &thumb_use_dropshadow=`1`]][/shadow]

in the child documents.

I can see, edit and upload pcitures to the parent folder, so obviously the snippet itself seems to work, but in the child documents I only see the code of the snippet.

Any ideas what I’m missing? I didn’t install extra snippets like slimbox, lightbox2 or mootool, assuming that what I need is already within the MaxiGallery 0.52 zipfile. Modx version is 0.96.

Can anyone point me into the right direction? I have the slight feeling that I’m missing something very obvious ...

you don’t need the &childgalleries_ids=`all` parameter necessarily. It gets the galleries what are under that document where the childgalleries display mode is called.

Once you have uploaded pictures to the gallery, it should appear in the childgalleries view.

Nope. I can only upload when there is a button "manage pictures". And this button is only in the parent document. See http://www.acepoint.de/index.php?id=117, this is the parent (no pictures there at the moment and you won’t see the button, of course ... you’re not logged in).

There is something odd going on in the child document.. MaxiGallery javascripts are included twice on the header.. Is the snippet running more than once on that document? it shouldn’t cause this, but still.. can you see any errors in modx error log? Is the document uncached? if it is, try cached call on it, eg. [[MaxiGallery ... ]]

Yep, I already see this now. Stranger is, that I can see the js twice using firefox-1.5 (windows), firefox-2.x (linux) but only once in IE7. Nothing in the logs. Anyhow, I’m fine with the working seperate galleries now.

One last question: My webpage is build on Mollio Type F. In the summary view the maxigallery template (ul=thumbs in clearertpl.html) somehow is mixed up by the default template. I can’t manage to put three (ore more) images in a row, it’s always one below the other. Is there a dirty hack or downloadable template? My template call is:

[!MaxiGallery? &display=`embedded` &embedtype=`slimbox` &pics_per_row=`3` &max_thumb_size=`110` &max_pic_size=`0` &big_img_linkstyle=`slimbox` &thumb_use_dropshadow=`1`!]

The .thumbnail class in mollio css file messes the layout. And you also need to add background:none; to ul.thumbs li block in maxigallery default css file to make the mollio li background disappear.

FYI,

I talked to Jason (OpenGeek) at #modx and he said that the double scripts registering is a bug what is fixed in modx trunk.. so it will be fixed in the next release. You can go around it for now by making your documents not cacheable.

BTW, I finally figured out why the snippet call at some pages did work and sometimes not: I use TinyMCE for editing, and cut and paste produced some line breaks inside of the html code which the snippet probably didn’t like. After copying a working snippet call and putting it into the plain html source on other pages everything was fine.

I remember similar problems from etomite two or three years ago, maybe it’s worth putting it into the documentation or f.a.q.
