Flickr Integration

Hello,

I’m currently planning on integrating Maxigallery with Flickr via the api. My ultimate goal is to allow users to both upload photos but also to ’import’ their pics from their Flickr gallery.

Will this be possible with Maxigallery? What type of mods to the Maxigallery architecture would be required?

Currently thinking of this as a scoping exercise so any tips / adivce / comments would be appreciated.

I think you could write a module that shows your images from Flickr, then you select what you want for MaxiGallery. These images are then downloaded and added to MaxiGallery. The rest I think is OK with MaxiGallery.

Just take a look at the part where MaxiGallery is uploading images, you can use it for importing the pics from Flickr too.

Hmm interesting, so you think rip the pictures to DB rather than hotlink via the api?

sorry for my late reply, it’s been a few months :p

i guess it’s ok to download the pics on your server, according to flickr guidelines you have to link all pics to the flickr page, if you download them you’re free to do whatever you want
it’s ok to link them, no problem, but if you choose to make a gallery like many people have that goes to the next/prev image when you click on the current, you won’t have problems when you host them.
the other way around it’s nice to host them on flickr servers and don’t worry about traffic and space.
