alias instead of id

hey all,
I was wondering if it is possible to have MaxiGallery name the galleries with the alias of a document rather than the id? or is there a way to name galleries? I have been looking through the forum but couldn’t find anything

What do you mean by naming the gallery? The folder where it uploads the images or what?

Yes the folders, I wanted to use file download snippit to allow clients to access there photos for download by name and most will have more than 1 gallery would like them to be able to go to folder "UT stuff" rather than folder "51"

I’m looking at other ways to do this as I don’t want to show all the tn’s but thank you for the reply

Yeah, if you mean the file system folder under /galleries, it’s not easy to change to use alias instead of ID’s.. you could do it, but lots of things to do..

Yeah this would be cool to be able to name the gallery directory it creates rather then being numbered, unless there’s a reason for the numbering.

there is.. it’s the document id and thus an unique directory name.

I think what I meant was when you upload you’re images it creates assets/galleries/5/my-image.jpg which is referenced on my gallery-01.html page.

Is there a way of containing /galleries/5 to gallery-01 so it then becomes gallery-01/my-image.jpg rather then galleries/5/, aliased instead of ID. So then my galleries folder would contain meaningful names to various works in progress or images sets.

I was just wondering as you stated in you’re previous posts ’system folder under /galleries, it’s not easy to change to use alias instead of ID’s..’ if this had been amended or if there’s is a work around.

the problem is that when you would change you alias for that page the new images will be placed in another folder or when you use friendly paths then double aliases are possible but double folder names will not work.
