Hello,

I have a page to display all my galleries, I use this code [[ MaxiGallery? &display=`childgalleries` ]] and it works perfectly. I just have a problem, how can I give a specific place to each gallery?
I tried ti use &order=’...’ but it does not work!
I want to have the same order that I have in my menu...

Somebody could help me?

The current releases don’t have a sort ability for childgalleries display type.. The code that it in SVN has it though, so if you are familiar to accessing svn repositories, grab the latest code from there. If you don’t want to do that, or don’t want to use beta code, you can use Ditto to list the child galleries and in ditto’s tpl, use maxigallerysolo to get the picture for each gallery.

I am wondering about an issue and I think Vano’s post is related to this.
In maxigallery the main object managed seems to be the "picture". In facts, taking a look to the db, a picture have many "features": a gallery number, description, title etc.
The need to manage a set of pictures, which is naturally created by maxigallery assigning them the same gal_id number, was charming me to create a new db table with the object "gallery" (with the key field "gal_id"). So that a gallery can have a position, a title, a description... and of course the best would be to manage the galleries the same way you manage pictures. This could give the choice to completely manage and display a gallery gal_id=6 from a document with id<>6.

Please anyone help me understand if:
- gallery management is modX document management. A gallery is a document to which pics are related. No way to have a gallery without welding it to a document.
- the gallery management features I was wondering about are already implemented in maxigallery, so I can make a snippet to be embedded in a document allowing me to create and manage more galleries from a single document (then show them wherever I want). That’s finally what I’d love to do.
- the best way is to wait for a while before scripting: someone’s already working on this. Better and quicker than I could ever do.

The need is driven by these needs:
- many many many galleries, eache one with attributes that a modx document cannot handle (it is easyer to handle them via a galleries database table)
- multilanguage site: duplicating lots of documents for more languages could drive anyone crazy.
- the maxigallery management interface is a very very cool and efficient interface. If I think about managing galleries as it manages pictures... slurp!!!

Yes, each maxigallery is bound to some document ID. If you use the &view_gallery parameter in maxigallery, you can see and manage a gallery that is from another document (eg. gal_id).

MaxiGallery can only handle it’s own galleries, not custom tables (unless they are exactly like maxigallery), but also document is needed that matches the gal_id table field.

You could modify maxigallery script to manage your custom table, I haven’t seen such snippet being done.

You can create just one gallery document and have all the picture with all languages there. Then create a document for another language that uses &view_gallery parameter to show the gallery from the original document and have custom templates with &customFields (in SVN code) to show the descriptions and titles from the correct custom fields for that language.
