    Hi!
    I am testing web apps for a website and I came across modX. It seems to be very powerful & quite simple.

    But I can’t install it...
    I extract the zip contents in a folder in my server (in my LAN), and when I point the browser to the install dir (http://10.0.0.3/modx/install/index.php) I only get a blank page. No text, nothing.

    I think I have correctly configured my server, as I have gallery2, xaraya and mediawiki installed and working fine.

    Any idea? Please!!!

    SERVER:
    Apache 2.0.54
    PHP 5.05 (also tested upgrading to 5.12)
    MySQL 4.1
    Windows XP Pro

    Client browser: IE & Firefox

      I have the exact same problem. Has anyone resolved this issue?? Pretty frustrating when you can’t even get through the first step.
      I’ve even tried setting EVERYTHING to 777, still not working. >:(

      mysql 5.0.22-1
      php 5.1.2-5
      apache 2.2.2-1.0

        5.1.2-5? 2.2.2-1.0? Huh? Which version is it? Certainly not going to be able to determine the problem from that brief and confusing description of your environment. But I imagine you extracted the tar.gz as root user and did not set ownership or permissions on the files properly. That’s where we’ll start anyway...

          Not a clue; that is almost identical to my environment, and I do not have any problem installing it. Did you use zip or tar.gz? Are you sure all the files got extracted properly? Not sure where to go without more information on this one...

            &I have the same problem on a clients hosting company. it appears the installer just keeps on reloading the page and stays blank.

            Anyone have any ideas?

            It appears to have something to do with the loopback tester... if I remove that section of the index.php installer then it seems work work ok.

            // session loop-back tester
            if (!$_SESSION['session_test'] && $_GET['s'] != 'set') {
                $_SESSION['session_test'] = 1;
                $installBaseUrl = (!isset ($_SERVER['HTTPS']) || strtolower($_SERVER['HTTPS']) != 'on') ? 'http://' : 'https://';
                $installBaseUrl .= $_SERVER['HTTP_HOST'];
                if ($_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'] != 80)
                    $installBaseUrl = str_replace(':' . $_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'], '', $installBaseUrl); // remove port from HTTP_HOST
                $installBaseUrl .= ($_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'] == 80 || isset ($_SERVER['HTTPS']) || strtolower($_SERVER['HTTPS']) == 'on') ? '' : ':' . $_SERVER['SERVER_PORT'];
                echo ";html><head><title>" . $_lang['loading'] . "</title><script>window.location.href='" . $installBaseUrl . $_SERVER['PHP_SELF'] . "?action=language';</script></head><body></body></html>";
                exit;
            }

            further seaching... this turns out to be a session problem. once the sessions are set up correctly it is possible to move forward in the installation
