You have friendly URL’s turned on, but it appears that when you FTP’d the MODx stuff to your server, you did not rename "ht.access" to ".htaccess"
change the name and it will work

Okay, renamed the ht.access file to .htaccess now I am get a 500 error. I then commented out the following lines and it started working okay.
#php_flag zlib.output_compression On
#php_value zlib.output_compression_level 5
This is what happens now when I log into the manager and then view the homepage again:
Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /home/krismel/public_html/manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php:452) in /home/krismel/public_html/manager/includes/document.parser.class.inc.php on line 416

Make sure to rename both of them, the one in the main folder and the one in the "manager" folder.
Try commenting out the two lines
php_flag zlib.output_compression On
php_value zlib.output_compression_level 5
as they can cause problems depending on the server’s configuration.

What do you mean by "a blank page"? Is the text the content of a document, or hard-coded into a template?
