Ok I bet I’m missing something obvious here, but as ever before posting a question on the forum I’ve spent a fair amount of time beating myself up and looking through previous threads for any answers.

Have downloaded the latest 1.2.2 and opened up the docs in shopkeeper_1.2.2\shopkeeper\docs\en_eng_doc_shk_snippet.html

In there it says Open the file Shopkeeper_snippet.txt in the "install" folder, copy the contents and paste into the "Snippet code" field. Click on Save.

    So I can’t find that file Shopkeeper_snippet.txt

Then I go to shopkeeper/docs/en/eng_doc_module.html and that says Open the file Shopkeeper_module.php in the "install" folder and I can’t find that file Shopkeeper_module.php

Looking at the install dir that does look like you should be able to install shopkeeper - so I did try to run install/index.php and first off looked promising - was able to select language but next sceen said MODx not installed.

    So what’s the best way?

Ok took a fresh look at it and went to the home site of shopkeeper and went to documentation and then Google Translate

      Russian to English translation

Automatic Installation Shopkeeper on already installed MODx (recommended)

      1. Download the folder shopkeeper / directory in assets / snippets / server.
      2. Move from the archive folder Shopkeeper install / to the root of your site.
      3. Complete contents of the folder assets / files from a folder _upload / assets /. There
is PHx-modifier "shk_widget", files snippet "catalogView" files and demo-
      site (template and images).
      4. Start the installation Shopkeeper, typing in the address bar of your browser:
      http:// [site’s domain] / install /.
      5. You can select the components of the Shopkeeper, as well as install the demo site.
      Complete the installation.
      6. Sign into the control panel website (http:// [site’s domain] / manager /). If
immediately opens the configuration of the site, click on "Save."
      7. Create a section of the catalog product pages. It can be domumenty MODx
or catalog goods Shopkeeper. To button appears in the directory, enter
in the "configuration" and fill in the "Category directory by default" (ID
      domumenta).
      8. Delete the folder install /. Done.

      Recommended to install a plug-PHx.

It is also recommended to configure the server to the site only worked in one domain (with
      others redirect).

On typing install/index.php a very nice interface opened up, I selected English and demo site and proceeded - all was looking good!

      I then received this notification

      Install results

Setup will now attempt to setup the database:

Creating connection to the database: OK!

      Selecting database `gavinbay_modx`: OK!

      Creating database tables: OK!

      Installing demo site: Database Alerts!

MODx setup couldn’t install/alter some tables inside the selected database.

The following errors had occurred during installation

Duplicate entry ’8’ for key 1 during the execution of SQL statement INSERT INTO `modx_categories` (`id`, `category`) VALUES (8, ’shop’), (9, ’shop_eng’).

Some tables were not updated. This might be due to previous modifications.

And now I can’t get into my manager and on typing http://www.gavinbaylis.com/modx/ I see Russian text

So as ever three steps forward and two back rolleyes

I’m going to try a clean install of everything and report back!

Few issues with the translation above see in red what to do hopefully will save others some time in working it out!

        1. Download Upload the extracted folder shopkeeper to assets/snippets
        2. Copy Move the extracted folder install / to the root of your site.
        3. Copy the files contained within _upload /assets/ to the relevant folders (images, Templates, plugins, within assets folder, place catalog view within snippets
        4. Start the installation Shopkeeper, typing in the address bar of your browser:
http:// [site’s domain] / install /. you might have to type install/index.php to make it install
        5. You can select the components of the Shopkeeper, as well as install the demo site.
        Complete the installation.
        6. Sign into the control panel website (http:// [site’s domain] / manager /). If
immediately opens the configuration of the site, click on "Save."

Have not played around any more yet with the points below - just happy to get the demo working

        7. Create a section of the catalog product pages. It can be domumenty MODx
or catalog goods Shopkeeper. To button appears in the directory, enter
in the "configuration" and fill in the "Category directory by default" (ID
        domumenta).
        8. Delete the folder install /. Done.
