auction / classifed script that works

ok i have a little project that i’m playing/working on in the time i have when i’m not playing with the kids or being paid to sit on my ar**.
I’m after a auction/classified add scripted that will allow me to have a set listing fee for both a auction and classified add, i also want to be able to search by zip code.

i like the look of "PHP pro bid" but @ $NZD1,100 its a little over priced for what i want. the site i’m playing with will not cover cost @ that price.

i also want some thing that is modx frendly and works.

so i guess i want advice on what works and what to stay away from and if any one out there has used some thing, give me a heads up on the strong points and the week points.

*this is a hobby project for me, i hope to have it cover costs that’s is all*
