What's a good modx compatible cart for selling made-to-order items

Hi,

I want to sell custom-made cables for a variety of purposes. The buyer needs to be able to "create" a custom cable by selecting the types of connectors from either end, the type of wire, the length in feet and possibly one or two other variables, like color or something.

The price would be calculated base on a per foot basis plus shipping.

Payments would include PayPal and possibly credit cards later.

Any recommendations for a cart I can host on my modx? I don’t want a third-party cart service.

Sorry to answer so late! You could use Maian Cart, with which is easy to set priced options: http://www.maianscriptworld.co.uk

It is not a native MODx cart, so navigation possibilities are less than with a fully native MODx cart where you can use Wayfinder. However, you can customize how it displays by changing the templates and the CSS and interface it with your MODx website. The general layout is quite rigid but I like how it looks. It is PayPal-only but other payment gateways can theorically be added.

The most difficult with your need is that you have many priced options. I cannot remember if PayPal allows more than two.

One simple solution would be to reduce the choice by creating more products corresponding to predefined lengths (e.g. 5ft, 10ft, 20ft, ...).

Another would be to create the product dynamically, based on the user choices, but you would have to purge your product/sales database from time to time.

If you have sufficient budget, I can do the necessary coding and interface this with TreasureChest (a module for MODx). I also provide installation/styling service for Maian Cart if you prefer this system. I send you a few demo links by private message.
