Help deciding on shopping Cart

Hello, I’ve done lots of research on shopping carts and MODx. I really like MODx and want to use it for an ecommerce site. I have setup a test FoxyCart account but not sure if this will do everything I need. I need a cart ideally with these features:

Search Engine Friendly URLs
Fast product upload from a spreadsheet
Coupons/Gift vouchers
Cross selling
Dynamic photo resizer
Integration with real time shipping services
Single page checkout
Member Login / Order Tracking

Are there any other shopping cart solutions that would integrate with MODx giving me some/all of the above? Even after lots of research, it seems like FoxyCart/MODx solution requires lots of plugins and development--

**the inventory module is dead for all I can tell.
**Order tracking--I’d have to build my own program from scratch in MODx that would accept a datafeed from FoxyCart in order to keep track of orders placed.
**displaying multiple products on a page--is this done using Ditto feature? How could I display 10 products on a page? How are my "products" saved in MODx?

I am about average with web programming but perhaps a more pre-built solution would be better for me? I love MODx but unsure if I want to do all the programming necessary to use it for ecommerce. Any suggestions regarding FoxyCart or other solutions greatly appreciated.

I’ve found FoxyCart to be the best solution for me. I am not a programmer but I have no problems integrating the cart.

I believe Luke and Brett worked out an excel upload - you should check with them.

Display multiple products per page using Ditto - it’s simple.

Inventory and order tracking I haven’t done - but would love to see if you get it finished.

how do you do photo-resizing in MODx?

ok, if I can use Ditto to display, what’s the best way to do this? i understand conceptually but i can’t find any tutorials. there’s only one post i can find in the forums on how to handle products. how would i display the most popularly sold products from my site using Ditto?

i really do want this to work but i’ve kind of hit a wall and seem to have run out of online info/tutorials

There are a few options for this. The 2 most popular being phpThumb and the directResize plugins.

Thank you for the links, however directResize looks like it stopped development almost 3 years ago and the link for phpThumb doesn’t work. I really do appreciate the help but I hope you understand why I get confused. Most of the work arounds people suggest seem to be non-existant or obsolete; this was the case with FoxyBack inventory. All kinds of talk about it but has anyone put this to use in the past few years?

I corrected the link to phpthumb my mistake. As for DirectResize, the last update on the first post that announces it is no longer in development is dated 17-Nov-2009, just over a month ago and up to then the development and support has been up to date where the last update according to the google code page is dated Feb 18, 2009. It is no longer being developed simply because the developer no longer has time to maintain it, the code is still good.

The same goes for Foxy inventory, it is still valid code. The developer of that add-on is once of the developers of Foxy and if you look in the FoxyCart support forumes you will see that there are recent posts that cover it’s implementation dating only a few months ago.

I have used DirectResize and phpTumb and both work fine. There is also the recent autoGallery that provides a GUI to create and crop thumbnails.

I like Foxy Cart but I have a potential client who does small sales and doesn’t want to have to shell out the monthly Foxy Cart fee, so an alternative would be great. The lovely thing about Foxy Cart is how well and cleanly it can integrate into MODx.

One to look out for that is design independent and has a CMS/Framework built in.

this looks pretty cool and if the site is as customizable as it claims there could be a lot of bang for the buck. i am really really impressed with modx as a cms but i overall I need a shopping cart solution with more built in features so i can focus on business rather than programming. i am still tweaking in modx/foxycart though haven’t given up all hope. really great links and suggestions everyone.
