Does anyone know if there a way to set a default web user role such as GUEST for user who are NOT logged in. Or else, is there a way to hide pages once the user HAS logged in.

Also has anyone done much with having a user info page where the user information can be edited by the user down to even uploading a photo? Is there documentation somewhere that would tell how to give the web user access to his own data?

There’s nothing built in to do what you’re asking right now. You could put it together though. I suspect that you’d need a plugin or snippet in the header of templates to hide pages once you’re logged in though.

One approach might be to have the start page check if a user is logged in, and if not, redirects them to a page that you create under a hidden (i.e. unpublished) folder that contains the anonymous user content. When logging in, you direct them back to the main page, which would then display the proper logged in site structure to an authenticated user.

As Ryan said, nothing built in yet, but with a little PHP and MySQL skill, you can easily create a form that can be used to update the data. There other tools available to help with doing forms, and there may be some alternate user management snippets that might reveal the secrets of the code here in the forums, but you’d have to search.
