I’m building a website for an artist, and he wants to sell drawings on his website.
There are 4 types of drawings for sale, and each category has different options like paper size and the number of copies.
There is also an option to pay for shipping, or to have your drawing emailed to you with no extra charge.
My client prefers to use Paypal as a payment gateway, and this whole project has got me confused right now.
I’m still a bit new to MODx but I like the CMS, and I would appreciate any help that I can get.
I’ve heard of Treasure Chest, but don’t really know how to use it. Can anyone give me some pointers on what to do?
I would really appreciate it. Thanks.
    • Hey Ephi,

I’m not sure how much the client is willing to invest in the shopping cart, but the only one I set my clients up on is Foxy Cart (you can read more here in this forum posting: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,20013.msg124357.html#msg124357). It’s $15/month, but it’s extremely powerful and works like a glove for most of my MODx e-commerce needs. Here’s another site I’ve got in development that uses it as well...this site is a MODx site and the e-commerce is fully handled by Foxy Cart: http://gpc.my619.com/

Feel free to PM me if you want anymore information about Foxy Cart and my experience with it.

Thanks for your response flix. Unfortunately, my client says he doesn’t want to spend money on Foxycart, and that he would prefer something like a paypal shopping cart because he has very few products to sell.
Can you give me any pointers on how to do this?
        • Hey ephi,

If your client doesn’t want to pay for a shopping cart system, then Treasure Chest would probably be your best option (http://treasurechestcart.com/Download.html) as it would seem like it’s going to be able to deliver what you need.  I have never used it, so I can’t offer support for it (but here is plenty of docs on it: http://treasurechestcart.com/documentation.html).  Otherwise you can just use Paypal, get the buttons they provide (you set the product info up in their account) and just paste into in your site like I did on this MODx site: http://unveilingthebride.com/buy-bride-of-christ-book

          Hope that helps!
