    Hi,
I installed modx to give it a try.

I played with it a bit, and read some doc. However, I have no clue on how to achieve such a categorization like the one that appear on this page : http://modxcms.com/what-is-modx.html.

    How is this done ?

Also, can I create content type, with custom fields ?

Like a "Companies" content, with custom fields (country, address, zip....).

(I was also told that many people speak french here. Pourquoi ? Ce sont des français qui developpent ce CMS ?)

    Thanks,
    Duval

i am a newbie too but to answer your question:

a page is based on a template found in ’manage resources’
the template has placeholders in it for menu’s, blog’s etc.
the page content is pure HTML, it is stored in the database
to assign fields you include PHP code which you put in a ’snippet’, also in ’manage resources’.
the snippet is then called like a function in the content HTML.
the template style is governed by ’site.css’ in the template/default folder

      i hope that helps
the docs are very sketchy for newbie’s
