Missing placeholders for translation

I just realized the template: paging1.tpl.html

has two hardcore text values: next and prev

I tried manually adding these as placeholders in my language file but it didn’t seem to work. Just wanted to post it out there for future release or if someone can advise on the steps to make these place holders in language files. I just used the same format for the other variables but that didn’t seem to work, I get empty text strings instead of the actual values.
