I was attempting to intergrate Dreamweaver with Modx to design a template but doesn’t look like i’m setting it up correctly, when I try to browser it doesn’t show any css or images, does this have to do with how modx sets up the folder directories ? I think its a good thing to be able to see the actual result in the browser while setting up a css template or is being blind the prefered way to go for CSS shocked

What do you mean exactly by integrate Dreamweaver? There is no current way to directly integrate Dreamweaver, or any other IDE with MODx, other than using it to edit the external web resources or other actual static files you want to manage in your MODx deployment.

However, you are free to use whatever tools you like to develop your XHTML markup and CSS for your template. When you are satisfied with it, you simply cut and paste it into a template (or whatever other type of content) in MODx manager, and either create a CSS document in MODx to include in your template, or upload the CSS and images for your template to a directory in your site (probably /assets/template/mytemplate/ or similar), so the paths are the same to your CSS, js, or other files.

At some point, it would be great to see some kind of WebDAV and/or FTP service developed, that would provide access to all the database managed content in MODx; then we could talk about true integration with various IDE’s, for directly editing MODx managed content.

Plus, I have a simple Dreamweaver extension that will help you in building templates. All it does is add some simple objects that make it a bit easier to insert placeholders for things like page titles, content areas, snippets, and whatnot. I’ll update it and upload it to the forums soon. smiley

Yes, if you have Xampp or other server installed locally, as well as ModX, and set your dreamweaver site up as a dynamic site. Personally it’s a PITA, and I usually just work in DW codeview mode and upload. The wysiwyg in DW is totally useless for true xhtml/css dev anyway, though the code editor kicks butt.
