jQuery is not packaged with modx so you would need to packag it with AS. And the path would be:
assets/snippets/ajaxsearch/js/jquery.js
It is up to you if you want to keep the version in formation in the file name, I prefer it without and it may be easier to upgrade.
Good idea doing a port. I am just getting into jQuery and am loving it (just need some time to learn more aboout javascript in general).
