[BUG] ajaxsearch 1.8 throws error when entering string with spaces on begin or e

when entering a search string with spaces on beginning or end you get this error:

we also have a site with AS 1.5 running, with the same bug. How can we fix it there? I’ve tried adding the trims, but cannot find the charset call

Are you sure? In MODx 0.9.6 it is written, that AjaxSearch 1.5, but actually 1.6.
In 1.6 no problems, but 1.5 I have not on my computer. In 1.6 many other bugs - change it to 1.72
