Is there anyway to have MODx, Index documents you have stored in your system. I want to be able to search through .PDF’s or .DOC’s and return them as part of my search results.
Thanks,
Jason

not sure
there will be possibly a need to make a php code to find a file , open it and preg match it’s content
Let me know
modx and ecommerce pro
an suggestions to this sort of functionality? A client has just asked the same thing (i.e. Google indexes the pdf/doc content, but are confused as to why it doesnt come up in MODx search)
If you make a listing on a resource/document of [for example] your pdf’s with a description
this can be found by AS. And the link can be extracted out in the search result!

Ahh okay. So currently there’s no script out there for MODx that scans the assets folder for doc/pdf/txt files and indexes their contents. The only way is to add a PDF as a resource.
You could use a Google Custom Search Engine.
Upside is it reads/searches the contents of .pdf files.
Downside is that if you want to remove the adverts you pay $100.
