Category Search Under a Container Document

Hi, i have a question.
I need this structure of document,
.......
.......
Release (This is a container document and inside them exist a lot of documents, these documents has a TV with the year for example and in the release document need set a drop down for choice the different years and then when i choiced one the system need show a list of these documents) is that possible? or exist a good one?

News(the same of release but with differents documents)
I’m a begginner with modx and i need this urgent :S

Which Search snippet do you use ?
If it is AjaxSearch, Find here a post regarding the possibility, with a drop down menu, to restrict the search to a subset of document (Release, news, ...). This feature is not still available but scheduled for the next release (1.8.1).
