modx smtp settings don't work?

newbie here...
this is the problem:

i want to test my form, i’m working on localhost.
and i can’t send emails throug SMTP settings of modx, it’s like Formit doesn’t read them..
settings are set correctly for gmail

i use XAMPP..

every [solved] post here, doesn’t say how actually they solved it..

no one can help?

If you don’t get the success message, put &debug=`1` in the QuickEmail snippet tag. It will often give you information about what’s wrong.
