Hello, while running the install i get an ok for everything except for:
"Checking if sessions are properly configured: Failed!"

Unfortunatly thats not much of a descriptive error interms of helping me figure out what to chnage in order to get everything running smoothly.

So does anyone have any advice or fixes for this?

Quick help would really be appreciated.

    Thanks.

Oops, very sorry, just so nutty to get this thing working that i skipped some obvious details tongue

          PHP version: 4.2.2
          MySQL version: 3.23.56
          System info: Linux daffy.perf.redhat.com 2.4.20-2.48smp #1 SMP Thu Feb 13 11:44:55 EST 2003 i686 i686 i386 GNU/Linux

          ----

          Browsers: firefox ver1.5.0.1 & IE 6
          System: Windows XP Professional

          ----

Whats happening is that i get almost the entire way through the setup process and have only one error pop up:
"Checking if sessions are properly configured: Failed!"

Im not sure in the slightest what to do from here, i have read that it might be a php.ini issue, but im not sure what to change if it is.

Thanks in advance for the help smiley

I just found out from Jason on the other thread which he state that MODx requires to have PHP 4.3.10 or above to run correctly.

You specified that you are using PHP 4.2.2 which is below the requirement and will not work with MODx.

Can you upgrade to the newer version of PHP?

Your PHP version is old, MODx requires 4.3.0+ to work properly. It could be a problem...

You can also try disabling the cache of your browser before installing (just a rough hint).

BUT I suggest you to get newer versions of PHP and MySQL to enjoy increased performance as well as smooth operation.

Latest php is 5.1, but 4.4.x is suffecient to run MODx smoothly.

If I were you, I would change my host at my earliest for latest technology such as mySQL 4.x and php 5.x

                  Now its upto you smiley

UPDATE: Jason just posted a solution, I hope this will help you.

                  regards,

                    Hi Guys

Not sure if this is helpful but... I managed to get the same error on two different servers (completely different setup, version of Apache, MySQL, PHP etc.) After spending quite a bit of time trying all sorts of different variations within the PHP sessions variables (following some advice in a previous posting on this topic) in the php config file - rebooting the server numerous times etc. plus trying both Firefox and IE for the install I FINALLY came to the conclusion that I might be looking in the wrong place.

In my case I tracked it down to the banner ad and cookie blocking of my Zone Alarm firewall suite. I’m guessing therefore that other programs using similar techniques to block cookies and ads may also case the same error problem?

                    Regards

                    Martin

That’s it. If your server meets the requirements it should be some firewall issue. Try turning off your firewall during the setup process and turn it back on once you’re done. It worked for me.
