      Try this link:

      http://css.maxdesign.com.au/listamatic/

Look at the lower half of the page. Maybe those examples might inspire you.

I used one of those examples, and though they look nice on that site, it’s rather difficult to get it working on a modx installation.

How would I, if I have a top (horizontal) menu, have a second menu below it, for the children links?

Let’s say my site is structured like this:

              Home---
              |
              ------ About Us
              |
              ------ Contacts
              |
              Products
              Services
              Support
              |
              ------- Help Desk
              |
              -------- Knowledge Base
              |
              ------- GAQ’s

Does is make sence? In other words, if you click on "Home", just below it, it will display "About Us" & "Contacts".
If you click on "Producst" or "Services" then there’s nothing
And when you click on "Support" it shows the other links again.

                Try this one:
                http://www.cssplay.co.uk/menus/dd_valid_2.html

I use his css a lot
and when you use the hover.js file in your template the ie css is not needed
