eForm not sending email enquiries to a specific email address

Hi guys, really hope someone can help here as this has 100% stumped me!

I have a live client site which has an enquiry form which uses eForm to send the details of the enquiry to a recipient email address. This email address uses the same domain name as that which the site is hosted on e.g. contact form here - http://www.thesite.com and email address is [email protected]

Thing is... eForm never sends the email to the designated email address... If we change it to send emails to any other email address it works just fine...

The email hosting for the client is not the same as the web hosting - could this be an issue???

Has anyone seen this happen before? Is this a website issue or an email issue? I am lost!

Have you tried converting the eForm mail code to use SMTP instead of isMail? That usually solves any mailing problems. I always do that on my local installations since it doesn’t have a mail server; using my regular mail host’s SMTP server works fine.

You also might want to check your spam logs; sometimes really strict spam settings will cause a problem if the mail being sent doesn’t have all the header fields the spam trap is configured to require.

Is there anything odd about the username part of the address? Some mail servers will reject certain legal email addresses containing non-alphanumeric characters.

Bobray - no, the email address is just [email protected] - so nothing wrong there....

Although your email is hosted on a different server, it may be that the server is trying to deliver it locally. I’ve had a similar problem - something to do with localdomains vs remotedomains in *nix setup? (hopefully someone knows what I’m on about and can explain it better)

Anyone having this issue what you need to do is ensure that the email company allow sending of mails from outside of their own restricted IPs group - to make SMTP work on eForm you need an SMTP provider who allows this otherwise this will not work at all!
