    I have a form here: http://www.grandouestauthors.com/join.html

The eform call seems to work fine, but the captcha code isn’t always shown. In fact, it’s shown only about 50% of the time. The background image of the captcha is shown, but not the code itself.

I have cacheing disabled both for the eform call (ie, I use [!eform ... !] ) and for the page.

    Any thoughts?

    Here’s the call in full:

    [!eForm? &formid=`GOAJoinForm` &subject=`Grand Ouest Authors` &to=`<emailaddress>` &ccsender=`0` &tpl=`GOAJoinForm` &report=`GOAJoinFormReport` &vericode=`1` &invalidClass=`invalidValue` &requiredClass=`required` &gotoid=`34`!]

They are. And as I said, it works sometimes. If I refresh the page, there’s a 50/50 chance the code will appear, but the background image for the code always appears.

        This is on MODx 1.0.2.

But I might have to move this thread because I’ve just enabled captchas for login and found the same problem on the login page - ie, it’s not an eform issue.

For the time being I’ll have to disable captchas for the form I mentioned, but I really need an answer to this because I find the captchas cut out a lot of spam.

Are there another file present in the ttf folder? i.e. a php.ini (or maybe a corrupt font)?

There were two files in the ttf folder: ftb_____.ttf and an Apple resource fork for it (because I FTP’d from a Mac) - ._ftb_____.ttf

I’ve removed the latter and will test when I get a moment.

Update: Solved! It was that ._ftb_____.ttf file. Thanks.

By the way, I was having another problem with this particular MODx installation (it’s the 8th site I’ve set up with MODx): when I went to Tools->Configuration in the Manager, I got loads of junk on the screen, in the main frame of that page. The contents of the page loaded fine below this junk, but I had to scroll down.

I was going to post separately about this, but it went away after I went through the site and cleaned out all the Mac resource fork files (ie, those starting ._).

I don’t know why MODx has a problem with the existence of these files, but clearly it does. Maybe something to warn Mac users about. (I’ve since configured by FTP client to ignore these files when uploading).
