Last year when I was hanging out in the Drupal community, they were accepted to the Google Summer of Code project where some of the head gurus were a mentor to a student for the summer. I was wondering if anyone over here has considered the possibility? Do we already have some student programmers in the forums?

I’m not a programmer and wouldn’t be much help in the mentor process. So this is just a suggestion. I’m good at brainstorming suggestions however

If we applied and were approved, perhaps some of the projects could be
- fleshing out the calendar / event system
- building up the photo gallery system to operate like a full image library system. ie. iStockPhoto.com or Gallery 2
- or beef up the user profie managment area to create a better all in one system for users to manage and update their own data
Just some suggestions.
