I just installed the most recent ModX with default example pages but cannot get the Contact form to send email to my address. The form processes ok and goes to the "Thank You" page, but I just never receive the e-mails. Here is what I have done and tried so far. I’m on a LAMP hosting platform. Any help would be appreciated.
- Placed my email address in ModX user configuration. Tested with a "forgotten email" and got back results just fine.
- Did not alter Contact Form chunks in any way from the default installation
- Tested without changing class.phpmailer.php using email account for my domain. No luck.
- Made changes in class.phpmailer.php and set var $SMTPAuth to "true". Tested by using two different email addresses and passwords. No luck
- Contacted my webhost (as per other recommendations in this forum). They installed a simple PHP form processing script that works fine. They said the problem was with the eForm script or ModX application.
- Created a page using one of my other website forms and pointed the form to a formmail.php script that I uploaded to the root. When I test that page, I get email results just fine.
I’d really like to take advantage of eForm if I can get it to work rather than having to resort to using formmail.php, etc. Can’t figure out why it isn’t working when just about everything else does. Weird.
PM me some login details. No guarantee but I’ll at least have a look to see if there’s anything obvious.
Seems to be working now thanks to TobyL who hard coded and email address into the &to= field in the actual Contact us page.

There are other SMTP parameters to set here like host, port, and you have to tell phpmailer to use SMTP by using its IsSMTP function. I think you can set all or most of this from the e-form snippet call, look at the e-form docs and other posts for examples.
Use MODx, or the cat gets it!
