This is exactly what my xPDO project is about, though I take it step further to include forward and reverse engineering of database schemas, as well as auto API generation for all CRUD and foreign key relationship operations, automatic table-generation, and more. With it you can literally turn any MySQL structure into a light-weight, PHP 4 and 5 compatible OO API in a matter of minutes, and it works fine when used within the current MODx.

Sounds very exciting - just what I am looking for. I will watch this closely. For real (paid for) projects its still too experimental for me.

Wow I’m really excited to look into XPDO and see how it will work with MODx. (I’m also happy that my ancient thread’s live was extended a bit tongue)

I had a quick glance at the beta release of 0.9.5 and I guess this new architecture wont be in 0.9.5 (please correct me if I’m wrong!!) so I’ll be looking forward to seeing your plugin Opengeek and/or seeing MODx version 1.0 grin

You are correct about xPDO not being in MODx 0.9.5.

And it is definitely planned to be in 1.0.

An add-on version inbetween? Well.. yes, you’ll be seeing xPDO in MODx before 1.0.
No, I don't know what OpenGeek's saying half the time either.
