    I recently upgraded my web server from Slackware 11 to Slackware 12. In the process somehow eForm wasn’t behaving as expected. I was getting local eForm based email sent to me but others on external servers were not getting their eForm based email. I suspected it had something to do with both the Apache & PHP upgrades but that’s just an assumption. My config changed:

    • from: Apache 1.3.37 -> to: Apache 2.2.4
    • from: PHP 4.4.7 -> to: PHP 5.2.5

    According to my sendmail logs, something started replacing the &from = ’emailsender’ which I confirmed was my email set in MODx and injected ’[email protected]’. Nothing I did fixed the situation except replacing PHPMailer with Swift Mailer based on this post by Jesse R. - http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,19370.0.html

    I still don’t know what happened but eForm is working now for my installations. I hope this helps other who may run across a similar situation.

    Thanks again to Jesse R.

      Glad it was useful for someone else. I think Swift is more robust and is still maintained; as such, I think it should be included in the official eForm for the 0.9.6 branch. 0.9.7 and forward, eForm will likely use the abstracted mailer functions in the core so that you can just drop in your mailer of choice.
