I started using the eform and when it submits an email to me in the from field of the email it displays you@yourdomain. I have created a link to the email so when they fill in the email field i can click that to reply but if i were to use the reply in my email program it will reply to the address [email protected]

If someone could help me figure out why this is not filling in the from field with the persons email address they enter in the form that would be great. Thanks. Below is a copy of my snippet call if that helps

    [!eForm? &formid=`contactForm` &to=`(Email)` &tpl=`contactForm` &report=`emailContactForm` &thankyou=`thankContact` &vericode=`1` !]

In the first place, you need to go into your site’s Configuration and change the site’s default email. It’s in the User tab; the seventh item.

To make eForm use a different reply-to address, use the &from parameter. By default the "from" field will use the default email for your site, as configured in the above mentioned configuration option.

Thanks that helped. Got one more quick question. Is it possible to change the mailed-by field to say the domain instead of the server domain? Right now when i open the details in the submitted email it shows mailed-by: alter.sup.com or whatever my server name is. wondering if its possible to have it say the domain name instead. Hope that made sense. the reason im asking is because i receive the emails to my gmail account but if i change it to send to [email protected] im not receiving it. Just thought i would ask. Thanks again.

As far as I know, the mailed-by field is exactly what it says, and is supposed to indicate the actual server it came from. I don’t think there is much you can do about that, unless you want to learn how to "spoof" these like spammers do. I see from a quick Google search that others have had similar questions in reference to their gmail.

Yeah it is odd because im using google apps with one of my other domains just fine and i set this one up exactly the same but its not sending.

When i send an email to [email protected] it works fine but when i send the email via the form it doesnt show up in the inbox. the odd part is my other domain is setup with google apps also and works fine when i plug in [email protected] it sends no problem. Not sure what to do. Thanks

Well, if it’s any consolation, mail sent from my server (a VPS in the UK) certain people don’t receive; for example, gmail and hotmail get it OK but Yahoo mail doesn’t. My aunt in Colorado didn’t; she complained to her ISP and they did something and she started getting it.

According to the forums for the hosting company I have my VPS with, Yahoo and other servers "greylist" email; any unknown email is rejected, and only after it gets resent by the originating server will they accept it. Apparently Yahoo and some other servers are not configured very well, and can keep rejecting the mail, or it won’t get accepted for hours. This can also depend on how the originating server is configured to handle rejection.
