    Modx 0.9.6 -> Trend(default theme)

    From Joomla->Drupal->Modx (i keep finding something i don’t like about each CMS)

    I’m in my first day with Modx, so it will be a few days before i get frustrated. BUT
    Right away i have noticed that the contact form doesn’t send messages out.
    the code snippet from the form:

    [!eForm? &formid=`ContactForm` &subject=`[+subject+]` &to=`[(email_sender)]` &ccsender=`1`
    &tpl=`ContactForm` &report=`ContactFormReport` &invalidClass=`invalidValue`
    &requiredClass=`requiredValue` &cssStyle=`ContactStyles` &gotoid=`46` !]

    I have the correct address under Tools->System Configuration->Email address

    Am i missing something?

    edited:the user receives copy of email...the admin address does not.

      Hi - try without the &to=`[(email_sender)]` parameter from your call, and you should be set. It’s optional.

      By the way, there’s a support thread for eForm here: http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/board,200.0.html

          I was having the same problem. I posted my resolution in the eForm forum:

          http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,18711.msg117156.html#msg117156

          Because eForm is used in the Contact Us page that comes along with the default installation of modx, I assumed the problem was eForm. To be honest I had a feeling it wouldn’t be since so many use it.

          Sending email from a web server is tricky business; some web hosts block outgoing port 25 (smtp) or use safe mode (for some strange reason) which disallows the PHP mail() function. Some do not have an email server listening (running) on localhost. Since localhost is almost always the default host used with PHP email scripts you can imagine sending email to a nonexistent email server can be a problem.

            Good you found a solution - though I don’t see why you think it belongs into this thread, as your solution doesn’t match the problem here.

              I must’ve misread the original post...it seems related at the time I posted.
