Is there any way to get access keys into Dropmenu.

It would be really cool if this was possible, especially if there was way to generate the access key letter (or better still be able to set this as a page option next to menu title)

If the access key letter was known, I guess it would be reasonably easy to generate the accesskey tag and maybe a title that included the accesskey letter ?

      +1

I second that question, a very good idea indeed to take accessiblity issues into account in DropMenu since it’s a key interface component...

There was a previous discussion thread on Access Keys which I can’t find now. Listed some pros and cons of access keys and links to site.

Didn’t resolve your problem but concerend that the thread has vanished and not in my list of posted messages. May have had some info of use.

Yeah I know access keys are controversial as far as accessiblity is concerned...

Several articles have been written about them :
              http://www.dmag.org.uk/resources/design_articles/accesskeys.asp
              http://www.alistapart.com/articles/accesskeys/
              http://www.456bereastreet.com/archive/200601/giving_the_user_control_over_accesskeys/
              ... and many others...

I think it still would be good to have the added feature...

There has always been a lot of debate about using access keys. But someone using a modern accessibility friendly browser will be told by the browser access keys exist (or they can be included in titles, unlining of character etc) They dont affect normal visiotrs using a mouse but they are sure needed by someone who may struggle with or be unable to use a mouse. Plus support will grow for access keys in the future I think

Overall, were looking at getting the access key code and hopefullt titles in the snippet, that way if you need them you can use them, and if you dont thats fine also

We’ll keep you informed of progress

I’ve done a quick and dirty hack to DropMenu to make it work with accesskeys using a TV.

                  You can find it here.
