Is eForm still the best option for sending email from Evolution?

I’m making a Contact Us page for a website, and I need to be able to let the user choose from a list of options who they want to send an email to. I wrote some custom code to let me generate the list of emails to provide to eForm and the list of names to show in the form, and it works fine, but I’m wondering if there’s a better option out there? It doesn’t seem the eForm has been updated in a while, so perhaps there is a more recent project.

    Thanks!

You might look at SPForm. It will let you have a drop-down list of recipients although the contact form is not very customizable.

I’ve actually tried that out on a Revolution site, but does it support Evolution? It doesn’t according to the Extras page for it, but I haven’t actually tried to use it.

There is an Evolution version available in a link in the "Installing SPForm for MODx Evolution" section here: http://bobsguides.com/spform-tutorial.html

Thanks! I’ll give it a look. For now, I think my eForm setup is going to work fine, but I’ll keep it in mind.

eForm is infinitely more powerful and configurable than SPForm, so if you need anything beyond a simple contact form, eForm is a better choice.

You shouldn’t need to do anything custom to let the user select the destination of the email. The setting you want is:

                &mailselector (Optional)
Sets the name of the form field to use as a selector to select a single email from the comma (,) delimited emails assigned the &toparameter. This selector field will act like a numeric index to select an email. It will start at 1 for the first email and ends at N for the last email in the list.

                For example: &to =`[email protected],[email protected],[email protected]` &mailselector=`topic`

On the web form the topic fields is actually a dropdown menu. when the user selects a topic from the list the value 1,2 or 3 will be sent to eForm which will then be used to select one of the three emails assigned to the &toparameter. This email address will be the address used to send the email to.

Thanks AMDbuilder, but I should have specified more because I actually need more than that.

I already know about &mailselector, but my code is for generating the list to put into the &to parameter, and to generate the <select></select> form field options. I don’t want to hard code names or email addresses, so I made a template for each recipient, and then there’s a document as a child of the contact page for each person. I used TVs to store the emails and job positions for the recipients, and what my code does is read all of that information to make a comma-delimited list for the &to parameter and to generate the dropdown menu options for the form.
