custom form for custom field

Hi there all,

i want to ask, i have a problem, i want to build a web with a custom form example :

ADD RECIPES :
=========
Name : ........
Create By : ........
Recipes :.......
ect field ...
--------------

my question is, is better i use a snippets or i make a new snippet & chunk to process the field like that
if i use snippet, what the snippet is ?
if i create new snippet, what about connecting to database, query, etc... from modx CMS ? should i create new table ?
i have a newbie on modx CMS, before now i use php manual with combine with smarty template engine
